🌊 About Catchin’ Waves

Catchin’ Waves is a classic Club Penguin minigame where you take your penguin out onto the water and show off your surfing skills. You can find it at the Cove, inside the surf shack.

The aim is to perform tricks, rack up points and avoid being knocked off your board by the waves. There are four game modes to try, each with its own challenges, and a total of 22 stamps to collect.

Some stamps are easy enough to pick up while learning the game, while others will require you to master different tricks or survive some seriously challenging waves. Don’t worry, though — we’ll go through every stamp below!

🏄 Secret Surfboards: Gold and Silver

Before we get into the stamps, let’s take a look at two secrets hidden in the Catchin’ Waves Game Upgrades catalog! The Gold and Silver Surfboards can both be revealed by clicking specific parts of the catalog.

🟡 Gold Surfboard

To find the Gold Surfboard, open the Catchin’ Waves Game Upgrades catalog and click the letters that spell out GOLDEN in the catalog title. Once the board appears and you’re asked whether you’d like to pick it up, select Yes.

⚪ Silver Surfboard

The Silver Surfboard is hidden in the same catalog! Click the letter A in the Catchin’ Waves title to reveal it. Unlike the Gold Surfboard, you’ll need to purchase this one for 800 coins.

💡 Important: The Silver Surfboard is needed for the High Jump stamp, as it allows you to jump high enough to reach the required height of 20 penguins.

🌊 Catchin’ Waves Game Modes

There are four game modes in Catchin’ Waves, and you’ll need to try a few of them to collect every stamp. Here’s what you can expect from each one.

🏄 Surf Lesson

New to surfing? Surf Lesson walks you through the controls and teaches you how to perform tricks. You’ll also earn the Graduate stamp for completing the lesson, so it’s a good place to start!

🌴 Freestyle

Freestyle is the place to practise your tricks without worrying about the usual obstacles or competition judges. It’s particularly useful for working towards stamps like Trick Star, Easy Spin and the different flip challenges.

🏆 Competition

Want to prove your surfing skills? Competition mode has you performing tricks for the judges and trying to finish on the podium. You’ll need to win first place for one stamp, while another requires you to finish in the top three with your Puffle.

🦈 Survival

Survival is where things get tricky! You’ll need to dodge icebergs and fast-moving waves as the challenge gets harder. There are eight phases, with hazards becoming more difficult as you progress. The shark appears in the final phase at 20,000 points. Complete the mode to earn the Survivor stamp.

Survival Phases

Phase Point Range What to Expect
1 0–1,999 Icebergs pass with adequate warning.
2 2,000–3,999 Icebergs stop passing, but a fast-moving wave approaches.
3 4,000–6,399* Icebergs pass with less warning and at a faster pace.
4 6,400–8,999* Fast-moving icebergs with a fast-moving wave.
5 9,000–11,999 Similar to Phase 2.
6 12,000–15,999 Icebergs pass with almost no warning and at great speeds.
7 16,000–19,999 A wave approaches at challenging speeds.
8 20,000+ The shark appears; this phase is associated with the Shark! stamp.
  • *Estimated ranges: Tricks earn points but don’t count towards the next phase. Performing tricks can shorten the time a phase lasts.
  • Without tricks, Survival lasts roughly 8–10 minutes.

Medium Time to practise your tricks!

Hard These will take a little more skill.

Extreme The toughest challenges in the game.

🟢 Easy Stamps

Let’s kick things off with the Easy stamps! These are a great way to get used to the game, and most can be earned without too much trouble once you’ve learned the basics.

1. First Trick

Catchin' Waves stamps 1
Perform your first trick on your surfboard to earn First Trick. You’ll likely pick this one up naturally as you start experimenting with the controls and getting comfortable on the waves.

2. Puffle Surfin’

Catchin' Waves stamps 2

Take your Red Puffle along for a Surf Lesson and let them join you out on the water. It’s a fun little stamp to collect while you’re learning the ropes!

3. Easy Flip

Catchin' Waves stamps 3

Ready to take things airborne? Jump off your board and move your mouse in a circle to perform a flip. Pull off one flip during your surf to earn Easy Flip.

4. Easy Tube

Catchin' Waves stamps 4

For Easy Tube, you’ll need to build up a 100-point combo while shooting the tube. As you reach the curved part of the wave, hold the down arrow or S key to ride through it and rack up your points.

5. Easy Grind

Catchin' Waves stamps 5

Time to practise your landings! Jump into the air, then hold the left mouse button as you land on the wave to grind. Keep your combo going until you reach 100 points to collect Easy Grind.

6. Graduate

Catchin' Waves stamps 6

Head into Surf Lesson and follow the instructions on screen to complete the tutorial. Make sure you’re performing each trick correctly, especially when the lesson asks you to flip in the opposite direction, and you’ll earn Graduate.

7. Easy Spin

This one’s all about getting some spins in while you’re airborne. Jump off the wave and combine your tricks to build up a 3-spin jump. Once you’ve pulled it off, Easy Spin is yours!

🟡 Medium Stamps

Next up are the Medium stamps! These require a bit more practice, particularly if you’re still getting used to combining tricks and building up your score.

8. Trick Star

Time to mix things up! You’ll need to perform 13 different tricks during a single surf to earn Trick Star. Try experimenting with different combinations rather than repeating the same moves, and keep track of which tricks you’ve already performed.

9. Podium Puffle

Take your Puffle into Competition mode and show the judges what you’ve got! Finish in the top three — 1st, 2nd or 3rd place — with your Puffle alongside you to earn Podium Puffle.

10. Flip Star

Ready for a bigger challenge? Perform three flips during a single jump. Getting the timing right can take a bit of practice, so keep working on your flips until you can pull all three off in the air.

11. Easy Jump

For Easy Jump, you’ll need to reach a height of 8 penguins. Get a good jump off the wave and build up enough height to hit the mark. Keep practising your timing if you’re struggling to get there.

12. Super Tube

Take your tube tricks up a notch! Build up a 1,000-point combo while shooting the tube. Keep riding through the curved part of the wave and try to maintain your combo for as long as possible.

13. Super Spin

This stamp asks for a 7-spin jump, so you’ll need to get comfortable combining tricks while you’re in the air. Keep practising your timing and see if you can build up enough spins before landing.

14. Super Grind

Time to put your grinding skills to the test. Jump onto the wave and keep your grind going until you reach a 700-point combo. A well-timed jump and landing will help you build up those points.

🔵 Hard Stamps

Now we’re getting into the harder challenges! These stamps ask for higher scores, bigger jumps and more advanced tricks. Don’t worry if they take a few attempts — keep practising!

15. Max Grind

This is a much bigger grind challenge, with a 1,200-point combo to reach. Keep your landing steady and try to extend your grind without breaking the combo. It may take a few attempts, but you’ll get there with practice.

16. First Place

Think you’ve got what it takes to impress the judges? Head into Competition mode and aim for the top of the podium. You’ll need to finish in 1st place to collect this stamp, so make those tricks count!

17. Max Flips

Get ready for a serious flipping challenge! You’ll need to pull off 10 flips during a single jump. This takes some practice, so work on your timing and try to keep your flips going while you’re airborne.

18. High Jump

For High Jump, you’ll need to reach a height of 20 penguins. Make sure you’ve unlocked the Silver Surfboard from the Game Upgrades catalog first, as you’ll need it to get high enough. Once you’ve got your board, head out and see if you can reach the required height!

19. Max Tube

Now we’re talking big combos! Build up a massive 5,000-point combo while shooting the tube. Keep practising your timing and focus on staying in position through the curved part of the wave to keep your combo alive.

20. Max Spin

The final spin challenge asks you to perform a 10-spin jump. It’s a big step up from the earlier spin stamps, so get comfortable with combining tricks and keeping your penguin airborne before taking this one on.

🔴 Extreme Stamps

Finally, the Extreme stamps! These are the toughest Catchin’ Waves challenges, so make sure you’re ready for a serious surfing session. Good luck, penguins!

21. Shark!

Ready to face the shark? Head into Survival mode and keep going until you reach the final phase, which begins at 20,000 points. That’s when the shark appears, so keep your eyes on the water and see if you can spot it!

22. Survivor

Survival mode is a real test of your surfing skills. Dodge the icebergs and fast-moving waves as the challenge gets tougher, and keep going until you’ve made it through the entire mode. Complete the challenge to earn Survivor!
