How to Play Pufflescape

You’ll find Pufflescape at the Puffle Park, right by the Puffle Shop in the Plaza. Once you’re in, you’re guiding your puffle around an ice cave using the arrow keys or WASD. In most levels the goal is to grab the key and roll through the exit door. Along the way you can pick up Puffle O’s for extra coins.

The caves won’t solve themselves, though. Platforms, ice blocks and ramps can be dragged, rotated and moved, so half the fun is working out how to turn the scenery into a route. Your puffle can also float, which comes in handy whenever there’s water in the way.

Pufflescape uses your own puffle, and each one has its own sleeping animation when you pause. No puffle? You’ll get a white one for the run. Specialty puffles and the Blue Puffle also appear as white in the game.

Pufflescape Items at a Glance

Item What It Does
Key Opens the exit door. You’ll need to collect it in most levels.
Puffle O An optional pick-up that earns you coins.
Puffle-O Bunch (bonus Puffle O) A bigger bonus pick-up worth five times a regular Puffle O.
Disappearing Puffle O Only appears in extreme mode and doesn’t stay put, so you’ll need to be quick.
Hint Manual Unlocked by collecting the first Puffle O in a level. It shows which way to move and the angles to set your platforms at.
Platforms, Ice Blocks and Ramps Movable pieces you can rotate and reposition to reach new areas.

Extreme Mode

Collect every Puffle O in a level (the bunch included) and you’ll unlock an extreme mode version of it. It’s the same cave, but now you’re racing a timer to grab the Puffle O’s and the key. Missing the berries won’t cost you anything, but if the key isn’t collected in time you’ll have to restart. Extreme mode is also where disappearing Puffle O’s show up, and you’ll need those for four of the stamps.

Pufflescape Coins

Pufflescape is a solid way to top up your coins, and extreme mode pays out triple.

Pick-up Normal Mode Extreme Mode
Puffle O 15 coins 45 coins
Puffle-O Bunch 75 coins 225 coins
๐Ÿ’ก Momentum Tip: You don’t have to hold a direction down the whole time. In many levels it’s better to let go of the key, or tap the opposite direction, just before a jump. It keeps your momentum under control, and it matters even more in the timed levels.

Pufflescape Level by Level

Pufflescape has 23 levels split into three sets: Entrance, Depths and Legend. The first eight levels are written up below. The harder sets come with tips instead of step-by-step solutions, because it’s more satisfying to work those routes out yourself, and the Hint Manual is there if you get stuck.

Entrance (Levels 1-8)

Think of Entrance as puffle bootcamp. These levels teach you how ramps, water and momentum work, and finishing Level 4 and Level 8 earns your first stamps.

Level 1

Roll right for the first Puffle O, then head down to the bottom left to pick up the key. Flip the middle board a full 180 degrees so it tilts up into a ramp, ride it to the Puffle-O Bunch, and finish at the locked door.

Level 2

Hold left to build up speed, then launch onto the platform with the first Puffle O. Drop down to the bottom left for the key. Raise the middle board to 90 degrees and use it as a ramp to reach the Puffle-O Bunch before heading to the door.

Level 3

Dash left for the first Puffle O. Tilt the third board into a ramp and use it to hop onto the floating platform, where the Puffle-O Bunch is waiting on the right. Drop below the platform, build speed and jump back onto the left side of the bridge. Lower your ramp so it sits level with the bridge, then rush right and use the bridge to jump up to the key before heading to the door.

Level 4

Roll all the way right for the first Puffle O. Raise the middle board to roughly 35 degrees and jump off it to the second Puffle O. Zip up the ice ramp for the key, then hop onto the next platform. Pull the log down to make another ramp and head up and to the left for the Puffle-O Bunch. Put the ramp back where you found it and cross to the door. This level earns you On a Roll.

Level 5

Rush right to build speed and jump onto the top-right platform, landing on its right side. Pull the icicle down from the ceiling and set it up as a ramp to reach the Puffle-O Bunch and the key on the left. Then drop down and roll through the door.

Level 6

Roll up to the ramp at the start, then move it behind you. Your puffle floats, so you can cross the water to the first Puffle O. Put the ramp back, use it to reach the second platform, and on the top platform swap the small ramp for the bigger one. From there, one good jump picks up the key, the second Puffle O and the Puffle-O Bunch. Return the big ramp to its original spot and head for the door.

Level 7

Dive straight into the water to grab the key, which sits just under the surface, so don’t worry if it takes a few attempts. Arrange the ice block and rock ramp so you can slide across the ice bridge and climb the rock ramp, then use the curve of the cave to pick up speed and snag the Puffle-O Bunch. Move the rock ramp out of the way and drop back down to the door.

Level 8

Collect the ice blocks from the top, middle and bottom of the cave and line them up into a bridge over the water. Hold right to build speed and launch yourself to the first and second Puffle O’s. Jump onto the middle platform from the left for the third, then drop down for the key and finish at the door. Completing this level earns Puzzle Pro.

Depths (Levels 9-16)

Levels 9 to 16 are noticeably trickier, with more moving parts to line up. Grab the first Puffle O in each level to unlock the Hint Manual, which shows the direction to roll and the angles to set your pieces at. You can also hold down on an obstacle to let your puffle pass through it, which can save time. And not every piece is needed in every level, so a shortcut you spot might be a better route than the obvious one. Finishing Level 12 earns Extreme Puzzler.

Pufflescape Level 12

Legend (Levels 17-23)

The final set is where Pufflescape really tests you. Level 17 earns Master Roller and Level 22 earns Epic Roller, so keep your eyes on the stamps as you go.

Pufflescape Level 17

Pufflescape Level 22

Level 21 has some tight curves. A good approach is to push into the curve until you’re about halfway round, then switch direction. At the very start of the level, heading left off the starting platform gives you the most momentum.

Level 23 is the finale, and it’s split into three phases. There’s no Hint Manual here, but the level is a little forgiving: if you fall, you only restart the phase you’re on rather than the whole level. Phases one and two are easier than phase three. One route that works for the last phase is to angle your platform so the puffle completes the loop at the top, then quickly angle it the other way so it follows the curve. After the bend on the right, hold down on the platform so your puffle passes through it on the next jump and doesn’t bump its head. Clear the final level and you’ll earn Ice Master.

All Pufflescape Stamps

There are 11 Club Penguin Journey Pufflescape stamps to collect: 3 Easy, 4 Medium, 3 Hard and 1 Extreme. Most of them will find you naturally as you roll through the levels, but the Puffle O stamps need a bit of planning because they rely on extreme mode. Collect all 11 and you’ll reportedly earn double coins every time you play, so it’s well worth the effort.

Stamp Difficulty How to Earn It
Bonus Snack Easy Eat a bonus Puffle O
On a Roll Easy Complete level 4
Puzzle Pro Easy Complete level 8
Puffle O Feast Medium Eat all regular Puffle O’s in one set of levels
Bite in Time Medium Eat a disappearing Puffle O
Extreme Puzzler Medium Complete level 12
Master Roller Medium Complete level 17
Epic Roller Hard Complete level 22
Ice Master Hard Complete the final level
Quick Snack Hard Eat all disappearing O’s in one level
Fast Food Extreme Eat all disappearing O’s in one set of levels
๐Ÿ’ก Stamp Hunting Tip: Play through the Entrance set first. You’ll pick up Bonus Snack, On a Roll and Puzzle Pro along the way, and every level where you collect all the Puffle O’s unlocks its extreme version, which gets you ready for Bite in Time.

Easy Stamps

These three stamps are a gentle start. You’ll earn them just by playing, and they’ll get you used to how your puffle rolls.

Bonus Snack

Time for a treat! To earn Bonus Snack, your puffle just needs to eat a bonus Puffle O, which is the Puffle-O Bunch worth five times a regular one. Level 1 is a lovely place to do it, as the bunch is only a quick board-flip away.

On a Roll

Keep your puffle rolling and this one will arrive on its own. You’ll earn On a Roll as soon as you complete level 4, so there’s nothing special to do beyond working your way through the Entrance caves in order.

Puzzle Pro

Finish the last level of the Entrance set and you’ll be named a Puzzle Pro. All you need to do is complete level 8, so by this point you’ll have a good handle on ramps, water and momentum.

Medium Stamps

Now the caves get a bit more demanding. These four stamps ask you to go deeper into the game and start making use of extreme mode.

Puffle O Feast

It’s time to eat up! For Puffle O Feast, you’ll need to gobble every regular Puffle O across one whole set of levels, whether that’s Entrance, Depths or Legend. Entrance is the friendliest choice, as those are the levels you’ll know best. Collecting every Puffle O in a level also unlocks its extreme mode, so you’ll be getting ready for Bite in Time at the same time.

Bite in Time

This one is all about speed. Head into an extreme mode level and snap up a disappearing Puffle O before it’s gone. You only need one, so choose a level you already know well. Remember that the key still has to be collected before the timer runs out, or you’ll be starting over.

Extreme Puzzler

You’ll earn Extreme Puzzler by getting your puffle through level 12, which sits right in the middle of the Depths set. The levels here have more moving parts than Entrance, so remember the Hint Manual is there if you get stuck.

Master Roller

Make it to the Legend set and you’re nearly there! Master Roller is awarded for completing level 17, the very first level of the final set, so it’s a great sign that you’ve made it through the whole Depths section.

Hard Stamps

Here’s where the real challenge begins. Two of these stamps are earned by finishing the last levels, while the third asks for a full set of disappearing Puffle O’s in a single level.

Epic Roller

You’re almost at the finish line. To earn Epic Roller, you’ll need to complete level 22, the level right before the finale. If those tight curves are giving you trouble, try the Level 21 tip from the walkthrough above.

Ice Master

Finish the final level, level 23, and the title of Ice Master is yours. The level is split into three phases, and if you fall you’ll only restart the phase you’re on, so take it one phase at a time.

Quick Snack

This is a step up from Bite in Time. Instead of one disappearing Puffle O, you’ll need to eat all of them in a single extreme level. Pick a level you can already finish comfortably, then learn where each disappearing O appears before going for the full set.

Extreme Stamp

There’s only one stamp in this category, but it’s the toughest in the game.

Fast Food

Fast Food is Pufflescape’s ultimate snack challenge! You’ll need to eat every disappearing O across one whole set of extreme levels, so there’s no room for slip-ups. Entrance is the best set to attempt, since you’ll know those caves the best by now, and Quick Snack is perfect practice as it’s the same challenge on a single level.

Our Verdict

I absolutely loved Pufflescape when I played Club Penguin as a kid. Although, it is a puzzler that rewards patience more than quick reflexes. Working out how to turn a ramp, a log or an icicle into your route is genuinely satisfying, and the Hint Manual is a thoughtful touch for when a cave has you stumped. Extreme mode is where the pressure really builds, and the disappearing Puffle O stamps are the real test of how well you know the levels. Level 23 is pretty difficult to complete and I still have yet to complete it #lol. Though, once you do get all the stamps in this game, it’s probably one of the easiest ways to get coins, especially on a double coin weekend. You can get the guts of 1000 coins in just one run so imagine that on a double coins weekend. It can be a little punishing in the late levels, but nothing here is out of reach if you take it one phase at a time. Overall, Club Penguin Journey Pufflescape is one of my favourite mini games.
